How to integrate with Active Campaign

With ReferralHero you can automatically sync your sign-ups with an Active Campaign list of your choice.

To connect your Active Campaign account:

  1. go to your campaign dashboard > Settings > Integrations and click on Connect your Active Campaign account
  2. In the popup, enter your API URL and API KEY (You can find those by going to your Active Campaign account, under My Settings > Developer)

After you connect your account, choose a list from the drop-down and save the changes.

If you create or remove lists in your Active Campaign account and need to update the lists on ReferralHero, just click on the "Update lists" link.


Custom fields

IMPORTANT: these custom fields are mandatory and must be added to your AC list.

When a user subscribes, we also send a bunch of custom-fields that you can use to fine-tune your ActiveCampaign campaigns. (Refer to the official ActiveCampaign Custom Fields Documentation for more info)

The Custom Fields we include are:

  • SUBID
    Subscriber's id.
  • NAME
    Subscriber's name. Blank if you don't require this field in your form.
  • EXFIELD
    Subscriber's extra field value. This can be a phone number, a zip code or any other extra information you have asked for in the form.
  • EXFIELD2
    Subscriber's second extra field value. This can be a phone number, a zip code or any other extra information you have asked for in the form.
  • CODE
    Subscriber's unique referral code.
  • REFLINK
    Subscriber's unique referral link.
  • TOTREF
    Subscriber's amount of referrals.
  • SOURCE
    Subscriber's source. If the subscriber doesn't have a source the value will be "None".

In order to use custom fields in ActiveCampaign, you must manually create them first on your list.

You can add and remove custom fields in your ActiveCampaign list by going to Lists > Manage fields.

Your page should look like this:

If you have other custom fields that are required in your list, the sync will fail. Make sure you have NO required custom fields in your list.

We will keep these custom fields updated when things change (eg: they refer a new person).
