ReferralHero has updated its reward templates with new Advanced Options. This feature comes with new options that allow you to set up additional types of rewards and reward rules. These advanced options will be most beneficial if you are offering payment as a reward.

Understanding the Advanced Options

The Advanced Options for reward templates now include three new options for setting up rewards:

  • Reward Value: choose a fixed amount or a percentage of the referral conversion value.

Note: If selecting ‘percentage of referral conversion value’ the conversion value must be set in the Subscriber profile to calculate the reward value, otherwise the reward value will return as 0. This feature is not available in points-based campaigns.

  • Reward Duration: set up recurring payments that occur every set number of days or months for a specified number of times.

  • Reward Delivery: choose how and when rewards are released—immediately upon unlocking, held until manually reviewed and released, or held for a specified number of days before releasing. If a reward value has been set, an additional option to "group reward payouts and hold until" will be available. This allows unlocked rewards to be grouped and paid out at once, either when manually reviewed and released or when the set amount is reached.

Note: If a reward triggers every time a subscriber refers three referrals and the reward value is based on the percent of referral conversion value, the sum of all three referral conversion values will be used to calculate the reward value.

Group Payouts

Group payouts allow multiple unlocked rewards to be accumulated and released either manually or automatically once a specific amount is reached.

Example

Reward Value: $25 fixed amount Reward Delivery: group reward payouts and hold until $75 is reached

Each individual unlocked reward at $25, can be found in the Reward Logs section.

Additionally, a group reward will be created, which can be found in the Group Payouts section. Once three of these individual rewards are unlocked, reaching a total of $75, the group reward will be sent.

Click on the group reward row to open the Group Payout Reward Details page.

Merge Tags for Reward Emails

When configuring reward emails, the correct merge tag depends on how the reward is delivered:

  • %reward_value% – Use this tag if the reward is set up as an individual, non-grouped reward, meaning each unlocked reward is sent separately. This tag will display the value of a single reward.

  • %group_payout_reward_value% – Use this tag if the reward delivery is set up as grouped, meaning rewards are accumulated and released together. This tag will display the total value of the grouped payout.

Affiliate Reward Structure

ReferralHero supports ongoing transaction tracking, empowering you to reward affiliates for transactions that occur over time. If you plan to provide ReferralHero with transaction data via Stripe, Javascript API, or Rest API follow these steps to set up an affiliate reward structure.

Note: This feature is only available when your campaign Goal is set to Conversion Event

  1. Reward Trigger: Toggle ON the “Reward the advocate for each transaction completed by a [pending/unconfirmed/confirmed] referral.

  2. Reward Value: Choose between the options "fixed amount" or "percent of each transaction" to issue a new reward for each qualified transaction.

  1. Reward Duration: Set the duration for which rewards should recur for [xx] [transactions/months].
